Division Lead

As the lead for the division, I played a pivotal role in supporting the Head of Department through the effective administration and oversight of the Accountancy and Finance Division, a dynamic and rapidly growing team of approximately 35 individuals, constituting around two-thirds of the department’s total staff.

I managed the staff within the Accountancy and Finance Division by efficiently coordinating their Professional Development Reviews and supervising their Education and Research Plans to ensure progress and alignment with departmental goals.

Demonstrate Leadership

I demonstrated leadership and engaged in key departmental and governance activities by:

  • Setting a professional example and providing guidance and support to junior colleagues when needed,
  • Serving on the Departmental Management Board (DMB) and the Staff-Student Experience Committee (SEC), as well as actively participating in Annual Monitoring meetings and the Division Leads Forum Committee,
  • Attending a College Management Board (CMB) meeting, participating in an open day where I delivered a presentation, and serving as a panel member for a nine-month progression review for a PhD student,
  • Contributing to open day events, where in one of them I delivered a presentation to prospective students,
  • Participating in nine-month progression reviews for some of our PhD candidates, providing feedback and guidance on their research progress.

Employability

My efforts have significantly contributed to the enhancement and implementation of employability-focused initiatives:

  1. Since 2020, I have offered consistent support and guidance to Sheehan Rahman, a valued member of my division, to organize an annual series of employability-focused events aimed at enhancing the academic learning experience and career preparedness of our undergraduate students.
  2. In 2016, working in partnership with Lawrence Wu, a member of my division, we implemented work placement modules designed to support the academic and professional development of postgraduate students.
  3. In 2011, I spearheaded the development and delivery of two workshop modules, namely Business Finance and Banking Workshops, for postgraduate students to strengthen their academic foundation and promote professional growth.
  4. Working alongside Russ Moro, a staff member of my division, I facilitated Bloomberg visits for our postgraduate students to support their academic and professional development.
